Working with your dreams

We offer a very competitive tailor made training service to companies, organisations and groups. All of our training begins with fully understanding your needs, and your goals before developing programmes aimed at achieving or exceeding those goals. Give us a call to explore your needs.

Effective training begins with taking time to understand the aims and objectives your organisation is trying to achieve before setting out to develop training interventions. This is accomplished by completing a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) which ensures that both of us are aligned on what the overall objectives for training are, and how we will go about achieving them together.

Once we have determined your training needs, we will break those needs down into interventions which work on three levels; raising awareness, building skills and putting these skills into action in the team/workplace. We offer support and post training aftercare as part of all of our tailor made training programmes.

Overall our approach is to;

  1. Identify Needs
  2. Determine and design course
  3. Deliver course
  4. Evaluate and validate
  5. Feedback and update TNA

Should you have specific queries on our tailor made training service, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Introspect Counselling recently developed and delivered a new programme for sixth class pupils transitioning to secondary school.

This was a wonderful new experience for us and we are delighted with the positive feedback from the young adults who attended the programme.

Here at Introspect Counselling, we build all of our work (in the therapy room, in the training room and in life) on the Person Centred foundation stone, and we were true to this when designing the programme. We believe that sixth class pupils have the knowledge to ‘self support’ and also the ability to seek ‘external support’ during the various issues that they may encounter when embarking on second level education.

It was the aim of the programme to bring awareness to these self actualising abilities thus empowering the young students. A very important part of our programme was to address the necessary reality that young adults sometimes find it difficult to verbalise their concerns despite available support. We found it interesting during the development of the ‘Transitioning to Secondary School’ programme to reflect on our own personal transitions which provided a solid base with which to empathise recalling our own personal journey as well as conducting solid research on the subject.

This programme was enriched by the pupils contributions during our bespoke, interactive exercises.

Student information will also support the evolution of our programme for next year’s transitioning sixth class pupils. We look forward to further developing the ‘Transitioning to Secondary School Programme’ for the next academic year.

If you would like to know more about the programme, or are interested in bringing it to your school, please use the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website and we will be delighted to provide further information.

Dreams have been a source of fascination and study for millennia. This strange phenomenon occurs to every one of us, ever night, several times per night. However, many people report not being able to remember their dreams, with the exception of some dreams which seem particularly vivid, troubling, or moving! These dreams, they report to partners, friends, family and others.

For therapists, being aware of the role and function of dreams in your own life, and in the lives of your clients is important as useful information regarding the client's presenting difficulties, transferences, and, insights into how the client's therapy could progress and signpost what they may need most in their lives.

These days though, few counselling courses cover dreams in any depth and breadth which could be useful to therapists to really engage this valuable source of material and help to support the life of the client. Our dream courses come in a couple of flavours; one which is a short but practical means of using dreams therapeutically, and the second is a much  more in-depth programme which is delivered through PCI College - a 5 Day Professional Certificate in Dreamwork. This second programme will be available in the 2015/2016 Academic Year. Please check the PCI College Website for upcoming dates.

When working with dreams, we explore not just the story of the dream, but also what it says about the client's current life, any challenges, tensions, difficulties etc., but we also seek what the dream may be saying about how the client can use the message in the dream to propel their lives forward. To grow, change and move toward improving their present life situation.

We also run the Dublin Dream Appreciation Group which is a meetup style group. This group runs on a demand basis with typically 8 people per group for 8 group meetings in which we explore each others dreams using the Montague Ullman Dream Appreciation approach.
